ATTRACTIONS:
St Thomas is 32 square miles of this lush tropical paradise! You have a couple options when touring the island, either rent a car or take a guided tour. Whatever you do, your explorations will take you up winding hills and along mountainous roadways where it’s guaranteed you will see stunning panoramic views. A particularly famous stop is
Drake's Seat — the vantage point where Sir Francis Drake himself used to sit and observe his fleet. Just below Drake's Seat is Magens Bay Beach, which has been called one of the most beautiful beaches in the world.
Mountain Top.- Looming 1,500 feet above sea level, this festive shopping complex offers unparalleled vistas showcasing the US and British Virgin Islands.
Paradise Point- At this aptly named attraction, you can take a state-of-the-art tramway 700 feet to look out over Charlotte Amalie Harbor and beyond.

99 Steps- Built in the 1700s to make climbing Government Hill a bit easier, this staircase is one of St Thomas's most famous landmarks. Some historians feel the stairs are making up for Danish engineers' lack of knowledge about the steep landscape of St Thomas – they had demanded the city be laid out in a grid format. Others feel that the stairs were a good way to use up the bricks that were ballast in the British and Danish ships, while making travel around the city easier.
St Peter Great House and Botanincal Gardens-Plan to have at least 45 minutes to stroll the grounds at this lavish estate and gardens nestled in the hills high above most of the island. Wander the gallery where local art is displayed, or peruse the old plantation house. It was built in the early 1800s, and it is a wonderful example of period architecture. Next, sip your complimentary rum punch and explore outside. The estate rests 1000 feet above Magens Bay, and the observation tower provides a panoramic view of the other Virgin Islands. The estate includes 11 landscaped acres, so you can wander to your heart's content. Reservations necessary.
Hotel 1829- This magnificent example of 19th-century architecture, also known as the Lavalette House, was built in 1829 by one of St. Thomas's most successful merchants. Bright coral walls are accented with skillfully worked wrought iron. The interior is paneled with dark wood, and the current dining room features 200-year-old Moroccan floor tiles. Non-guests are welcome in the public areas. The hotel is one of the stops on the Blackbeard Castle historic walking tour which includes Villa Notman, Haagensen House and 99 Steps. Guests at Hotel 1829 get free admission to the tour

Residents wear typical American clothing. In terms of what people wear - Virgin Islanders dress casually but fairly conservatively. Younger people will don more provocative outfits. The hot weather year round means no fall, winter, spring cloths, the same cloths can be worn year round so only one wardrobe is necessary. T-shirts, shorts, summer dresses are often the norm. Virgin Islanders like to dress to a T when attending shows or fine dining restaurants |
